The International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition stands for peaceful coexistence. Every year we organize more than 50 qualifying rounds worldwide with up to 1,000 singers from all over the world. We want to continue doing so, together with our colleagues, friends and singers from Ukraine, Russia and from more than 40 other countries every year. We condemn Russia's attack on Ukraine, which was ordered by Vladimir Putin in violation of international law.
Why Participate?
702 Singers
The Belvedere Competition is one of the largest competitions for young opera singers in the world. 702 singers participated in 2022. Become part of the global singing elite and start your international opera career!
40% Engagement Ratio
6 engagements were awarded by the Opera Jury in 2022 to the 15 finalists. This makes a commitment rate of 40.0%.
19 Jury Members
The Opera Jury in the final rounds is composed exclusively with opera and casting directors of the most prestigious opera houses, who award additional engagements to the participants. The international Media Jury in the final rounds awards the additional Media Prize.
30 Professional Observers
Numerous singers’ agents and representatives – 19 in 2022 – of international opera and concert houses visit the final rounds as observers. They have made the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition into a veritable “Wall Street of Voices”. It’s your “springboard” to a career in opera.
54 Qualification Cities
The international qualifying rounds are held each year on all continents and gives young, highly talented opera singers the best access to the professional opera world.
41 Years of Experience
The Belvedere Singing Competition started in 1982, making it one of the renowned and best networked singing competition in the world.
